After Uni, I spent a few years in insurance underwriting (Northern & Employers, Commercial Union) and banking (Societe Generale, City of London branch), before getting bored with sitting in an office, and went to drive a big red London bus for most of the rest of my working life ! This gave me a lot of insight into the value of integrated public transport. I've volunteered on heritage steam railways for over 50 years, latterly the Cambrian Railway at Oswestry. I am deputy chair of Shrewsbury-Chester Rail Users' Association, and sit on Railfuture's West Midlands committee as representative for Shropshire and Telford. Member of Friends of the Earth, WWF, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Woodland Trust, RSPB, etc. I've also been vegan and an environmental campaigner for almost sixty years. Married to Sue, one son, Caspar. I moved to Stanwardine, Baschurch, 16 years ago, and have been campaigning for Baschurch Station ever since! Although never a railway professional, I have gained a good working knowledge of the technical, operational and political realities of the railway industry.
